I'm using this for two months now with much succes. It works better than any multimode 144 rig I have used so far. Especially on sensitivity. Check the http://www.eham.net/reviews/products/52 transverter reviews. I don't know if there was a 50 MHz = version. The box is small enough to fit a K2 sized case, although at the = moment mine is not cased that way. Power output is 10 Watts from a 12 = Volt supply - 300 mA on receive and 2.5 A on transmit. They use diode = switching and will need the 2nd receiver (K160M) and KIO2 options in the = K2 plus a simple two transistor interface (2 x 2N2222) to ground a 12 = volt floating input at 80 mA. The drive level is a maximum of 500 mW, I = use a 2 Watt 10 dB attenuator made in pi style from 2 x 100 Ohm and 1 x = 75 Ohm 2 Watt resistors. All straightforward stuff. If you want a copy of the switching circuit, let me know. 73's Dave, G4AON K2 #1892 ++++++++++++++++++ Date: Sat, 21 Dec 2002 09:34:36 -0800 (PST) From: Jessie Oberreuter To: Trevor Day Cc: elecraft at mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Elecraft] 60 meter transverter Just to make sure we're on the same page, I believe the 60m xvert option is /two/ things -- a 60m band module for the K2 (just like 160m comes separately), and a tranverter interface option on the same board. For 60m, you'll just operate your K2 normally; if you have a transverter for another band, you will be able to plug it into the forthcoming transverter in/out ports. Until it appears, you can drive units with built in TR switching (eg TenTec, DEM with the AOS adaptor) via Ant1/Ant2, and xverters with separate TX and RX (eg DEM, Microwave Modules, etc.) with TX out on Ant1/Ant2 with a pad, and RX coming in through the 2nd RX antenna on the 160m board. I'm looking for plans for a 144Mhz transverter with preferably a 28Mhz =20 IF (to go with my K2 - obligatory Elecraft content :-). I've scoured my book collection and the web, and haven't come up with anything suitable. Can anyone point me to sources? I know that there are several kits and pre-built products available from companies like Ten-Tec and DEM, but I would like to homebrew one.
