Churchill Falls


Churchill Falls is a small town (population around 850) in central Labrador.  It is a "company" town, meaning, if you don't work for the "company", you don't live there.  In this case, the "company" is the Churchill Falls (Labrador) Corporation, or CF(L)Co.  CF(L)Co is responsible for the operation and maintenance of  the largest underground and sixth largest capacity hydro-electric generating station in the world.  The turbines and generators are located 1000ft/300m below the surface.  It has the potential to produce 5,428,500KW and connects to the North American hydro-electric grid system using 735KV transmission lines.  If you'd like to find out more about Churchill Falls, try one of the following sites:
