1999 CQWW SSB Contest @ VO2CQ


For the 1999 CQWW SSB Contest, Gus VO1MP/VO2CQ, Dan VO1MX/VO2ZZ and I travelled to the Point Amour Lighthouse on the South Coast of Labrador.  You can view maps of the area here (close up) and zoomed out maps here, here, and here.  We operated in the Multi-Single category and finished 15th in the world and 2nd in Canada.  Our final score and antenna description is below.

The setup at Point Amour was done Field Day style.  VO1MP and VO1MX arrived the Sunday before the contest and started putting everything together.  When I arrived on Thurday, thanks to all the hard work of Gus and Dan, all we had left to put up was the 20m monobander and the 40m delta loop.  The 40m delta loop went up Friday morning.  We didn't get the 204BA up until about 3 hours before the contest started.
