The Montreal
Fox Controller V 3,
fully
compatible with International Hunts (UPDATED
JAN 03)
Design by Francois VE2JX
with some help from Jacques VE2EMM
FEATURES :
-
8 selectable ID codes, "MO", "MOE",
"MOI", "MOS",
"MOH", "MO5", "MON", "MOD".
-
For 1 minute, it continuously sends the
selected
ID code at 8 WPM and terminates by a fast "DE hider's call letters".
-
Cycle times are: continuous to 7 minutes,
depending
on the numbers of FOXES in the hunt. 5 FOXES and 5 minutes is the
international
standard. More or less FOXES can be used for practice.
-
Delayed start up to 3 1/2 hour, in 1/2
hour increment,
all FOXES can be synchronized by a single PB.
-
High accuracy timing.
-
MCW for 2 meters, straight key CW for 80
meters.
-
Keys HTs and positive PTT transmitters.
-
The Hider's call letters can be loaded in
the EEDATA
memory permanantly and changed just by setting switches.
-
Power consumption is less than 3 mA.
-
The indicating LED shows 1- Delayed start
timing,
2- Incorrect combination of time and # of FOXES, 3- CW keying being
done.
IMPROVED SOFTWARE:
-
1 Second of dead time between each
transmission.
-
8 Seconds of time for the call letters
and the portable
sign.
-
Pre-keying of the TX 1 second before the
start of
the ID.
-
Written in "C" for ease of modification.
-
A version is availlable for the PIC16F84A,
one for the lower cost PIC16F628. Both
microprocessors
can be interchanged with the proper software. The PIC16F628 cost less
than
4$US in unit quantity from DK.

In
V3, R5 is removed from pin 18 and placed on pin 17 of the PIC, this mod
is required
to
eleminate a glitch while timing the delayed start on an 80 meter Fox.

It is for ham radio operators only.

I have a version that plugs in a GE Master Exec II exiter for 350
mW
of output. This exiter only requires a Xtal and retuning.
