GOTA (Guides On the Air)

TDOTA (Thinking Day On the Air) 2003

With the Loyalist City Amateur Radio Club (VE9LC)

What is Guides On the Air??? Good question it is an annual event held on the third weekend in February where Amateur Radio Operators around the world assist the Girl Guides / Girl Scouts in making contact with other Girl Guides / Girl Scouts.

Our Event took place in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. We has approximately 105 Girls come in the door with 47 of those wanting to make a contact, and did.

The band were awful. In total I think we worked 8 Stations in 4 countries to make all 47 contacts. But the girls enjoyed them selves and so did the Amateurs. That is all that matters!

I will be posting more information on the event we held on February 2003 in the near future. Until then I would like to thank the following people who did show up and help out with the 105 Girls.

Len VE9MY, Linda VE9GLF, Bob VE9CKR, Rick VE9RS, Ted VE9TJW, Kal VE9PK, Paul VE9NC & wife, Glen VE9SNB, Pauline Fournier ( Girl Guide Representative who set up our local event) and Phil VE1PGC.

As I mentioned I will be adding more to this page such as:

A how to set up a large GOTA event.

More Pictures.

Our Log Books from 2003

Maybe Log books from 2002 and 2001

Plus a few other odds and ends.

Below are a few of the picture from our 2003 event. Enjoy.... P.S. More to come.
