Please be aware that for some unknown reason, from time to time, the listing for our VE session on the ARRL web page disappears! We ALWAYS have a session on the second Wednesday of each month no matter if it is listed on the ARRL web page or not. In case of any doubt, please contact Jim Rice, NØOA, for up to date information (contact info in the test session box below).

Welcome to the Valley Amateur Radio Club Web Site. This club is devoted to providing fun and comfortable monthly test sessions for all FCC test versions (elements 2,3, and 4). Currently the FCC mandated fee for any or all elements is $15.00. We hope you enjoy your visit and welcome any ideas for other things you would like to see listed on this site. Please keep suggestions to Amateur Radio topics only!

What to bring to the exam session:

  1. Copy of current (or expired less than two years) amateur license, if any.
    This copy must be sent in with your application and will NOT be returned.
     
  2. Picture ID (Driver's license, Passport, Employer ID, School ID)
     
  3. Cash or check made out to ARRL/VEC in the amount of $15.00.
     
  4. A pencil with an eraser.
     
  5. You must bring a FRN.(Fcc Registration Number)get FRN

Testing begins at 7:00PM on the second Wednesday of every month!

Exam Preparation:


There are many ways to prepare for these exams. Each person is different and may prefer to prepare in different ways. We will offer several suggestions below, but by no means are they intended to be exclusive.
  • For those who wish to take a formal class, the ARRL offers a service to find local classes. CLICK HERE
  • For those who wish to self study, the ARRL and the W5YI group offer excellent texts.
  • The complete question pool is available on the ARRL Website.
  • Practice examinations are available on eHam.net , AA9PW.com and qrz.com.
