Tower Inventory

As of November, 2000, we have 4 towers installed.

30 Foot TV Tower

In the backgroud picture of the aurora (taken during CQWW 1995) is a 30 feet tubular TV tower.  We have changed the configuration of it so that now, it contains the 6M and 2M beams used for the RAC contests.

75 Foot Guyed tower

At the moment, I can't remember the make of this tower, but it is just out of view to the right of this picture.  Currently, it only has the Explorer 14 on it with the 40M kit.  Generally, we use this for the Multiplier station for CQWW.  In the past, we have fed this tower with a Gamma Match as a vertical on 160M.

70 Free Standing Delhi

This tower is located to the south of the barn (almost the point that this picture was taken from).  It is mounted with rock bolts on a piece of the Canadian Shield.  No concrete required.  The Hy-Gain TH7DXX on top with a Hy-Gain 204-BA sittting about 20 feet off the ground.  The 204BA is not in use yet, and we have it sitting there for storage.

120 Foot Guyed Commercial Tower

This is one big tower.  It used to be part of the CHUR broadcast tower located on the south shore of Lake Nipissing.  When CHUR took it out of service, they sold the scrap tower to a company that was responsible for dropping the tower and cleaning up the site.  Drop it they did, with a chain saw.  They had 5 - 250 feet towers on the site.  We obtained 120 feet (12 sections) and all the required hardware including guys, anchors, etc.  Details on the raising can be seen at http://tnt.vianet.on.ca/community/nbarc/ccctower.htm

This tower has most of our inventory on it.  On top is the 3 element 40 meter beam (actually, on top is a repeater antena).  1/3 of the way down you will find the 4 element 15 fixed on Europe.  We also have the 4 element 80M switching array (vertically polarized), and the 160M inverted V.  There is some discussion that the 204BA may move to this location in the future.

Last, we do have a 300M beverage antenna that runs through the woods to the NE for working Europe.
