The barn is located about 300 yards from the main house. In its former life, the barn housed 2 horses. Prior to Ken coming onsite, the barn was hit by lightening (no horses at this time) that managed to blow out all the wiring in the barn. This was replaced and resulted in 15A 220VAC service and a brand new panel.
But, as horses seem to have their own way of keeping warm, us humans are not. Insulation was installed and Ken traded a Compaq lugable (remember those?) for a wood stove. We think we got the better part of the deal, as the wood stove is still going strong. I'm not sure about the Compaq, but I can bet that if it isn't at a Computer History Museum, then it is likely resting at a local dump.
In the winter, that 300 yards has to be traversed by foot, snowshow and toboggan.
