05/11/2011: REMEMBERANCE DAY 'IN FLANDERS FIELDS' - VA3IF -
The Guelph Amateur Radio Club is once again setting up a special event station at the birthplace of
Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae House in Guelph Ontario. John McCrae was the author of the poem
"In Flanders Fields". The special event station, in honour of peace and remembrance, will
operate from the McCrae House Museum from 5-11 November 2011. They will be operating with the call
sign VA3IF on 80, 40, 20 and 15 metres, as well as IRLP, node 2260. QSL via VE3OGE (QRZ.com).

14/04/2012: TITANIC CENTENARY - VO1MCE & VEØMGY/MM -
The Irish Loop Amateur Radio Club, VO1MCE, Cape Race, Newfoundland (NA-027, CIsA NF001, WLOTA 0345),
will be doing a re-enactment of the the Loss of The TITANIC on 14th and 15th April, 2012. It is also
their intention to have VE0MGY/MM a ship at the Titanic wreck site communicating with Cape Race and

25/04/2012: MARCONI BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION - VO1AA -
The Society of Newfoundland Radio Amateurs (SONRA) will make history on 25 April, 2012. April 25th
each year marks the birthday of Guglielmo Marconi, who received the first wireless signal at Signal
Hill, Newfoundland. This April 25th, SONRA will celebrate the event with making an Amateur Radio
contact with Princess Elettra (Marconi) who will be in Bologna Italy to celebrate her father's
birthday. It is planned to have the Canadian Heritage Minister, the NL Premier, the City of St.
John's Mayor along with the NL Lieutenant Governor, exchange greetings with the Princess via Amateur
Radio from VO1AA at Cabot Tower. This is the first time that this event has been attempted, and it
is anticipated that it will be a high level media exposure for Amateur Radio in Canada. SONRA
appreciates the wonderful relationship that it enjoys with Parks Canada, Signal Hill National
Historic Site, and looks forward to many years of commemorating this important event. [RAC]

19/05/2012: WAR OF 1812 BI-CENTENNIAL - VX3W -
Members of the Manotick Amateur Radio Group (VE3RIX) will be operating special event station VX3W
from the Fort Wellington National Historic Site (WCA VE-00215) in Prescott, Ontario, on Saturday,
19th May 2012 from 10:00 EDT to 16:00 EDT (1400z to 2000z) to commemorate the 200th anniversary of
the War of 1812. They will be operating on various HF bands, depending on the conditions. Local
operators may be able to find us on simplex VHF and/or UHF. While most operations will be voice, we

02/06/2012: BREAD & HONEY FESTIVAL - VE3MIS -
Each year on the 1st weekend in June, (June 2nd & 3rd, 2012) the old town of Streetsville
celebrates the passing of their town into the City of Mississauga, in 1973. The Bread & Honey
Festival, now a three day event and started as a wake, is now in it's 34th year. Each year, over
40,000 people come to enjoy the bread supplied by the two remaining mills in town and honey supplied
by local businesses, as well as the parade, arts & crafts displays, entertainment and a midway
for young folks. The Mississauga Amateur Radio Club (VE3MIS) operates a special event station at the
festival for QSL & certificate collectors. Operating times are 1400 to 2000 UTC on each day. SSB

after the war of 1812, during various Bicentennial functions in the Niagara on the Lake area,
