WHO I AM I am located in Gananoque Ontario Canada, in the heart of the 1000 Islands. The 1000 islands is the worlds largest collection of fresh water.
I enjoy 17, 20 and 80 meters the most. At home I currently run a Kenwood TS-440 SAT and a homebrew doublet antenna at 40 feet with hand wound air-gap balun. The doublet is set at about 110 degrees instead of 180 degrees to give me a little gain towards the East (Europe and Africa). On my eastern tower I have a 3 element 3+3 Star10 meter beam made by Jo-Gunn set at about 35 feet for 10 meters. The Jo-Gunn antenna is connected to a Uniden HR-2600 (modified for 50 watt output) dedicated to 10 meters. The base is also equipped with 2 meters and 440 MHz with antennas set at 45 feet atop my western tower . My mobile is currently equipped with only 2 meter and/or 440 gear for local nets and rag chewing when mobile.
Since I retired I have started working QRP portable and loving it. I will be POTA, Canadian IOTA and marine mobile. I use a Xiegu G90 and various HF homebrew antennas. My Xiegu G90 is in a Pelican box with 2 x 6Ah LiFePo batteries, cooling fan and LED lghts for night time QSOs. It is equiped with a 5 watt solar panel attached to the box, and a portable 40 watt panel once I am setup. Best of luck DX'ing and see you on the bands.
I prefer to use both eQSL and LOTW to log and exchange contacts.
