VA1S OPERATION AUTHORIZED for 1999... :

The Marconi Amateur Wireless Society has once again been GRANTED
the special event callsign  V A 1 S to commemorate the 97 th
anniversary of the first transatlantic radio message from North America to
Europe.  The message was sent on Dec. 15, 1902 from the Marconi station in Glace Bay, N.S. and received at the Marconi station in Poldhu, Cornwall, England.

Authorized  M. A. W. S. members will operate V A 1 S on hf during the month
of December. If you have made contact, please QSL DIRECT ONLY !!!
QSO's are confirmed by an attractive QSL card
IF DIRECT QSL IS RECEIVED, including a S.A.E.( with proper Can. postage, or 2 IRC's or one "green stamp").

A special certificate is available for $US 5.00 or 10 IRC's. See samples below...
