Around Africa under sails

This one "KHERSONES" has drawn attention to itself already in winter 1996/97. At these time the ship rounded the Cape Hoorn in South America as one of the last tall ships under sails. This was an event of quite special type for the friends of sailing. At that time, hadn't to be thought to our amateur radio station at all yet. Therefore there was not any QSO under /mm during this cruise either. An important new sailing event is now planned again for the winter 2003/2004. Africa shall be sailed round practically this time. Practically means however, that no direct circumnavigation is carried out along the coast but the route is planned a little differently. At first the Atlantic Ocean shall be crossed to Brazil and it shall go after this from there to South Africa. As far as investigations by the shipping company and the barboat charterer have yielded is since the II. World War no windjammer driven this route and has rounded the cape of the good hope after this under sails. We radio amateurs of the club station UU2JZA want to be of use this cruise to report about the experiences during the journey currently. It isn't a dx pedition in the conventional meaning. We want to participate the many interested radio friends what the ship and its crew will experience during this time.
