Every Monday night at 8:30 PM the Cabell County Amateur Radio Emergency Service conducts a net on 146.985 and is linked to the 146.76 and the 443.850 repeaters. The particpation has been very good and all amateurs are urged to continue checking in. It is necessary for all Hams to know the condition of their equipment in the case of an emergency and that, of course, is a big reason for holding nets. It is also an opportunity to keep up with fellow Hams that you don't otherwise get a chance to talk to.WV State A.R.E.S / R.A.C.E.S.
(HF - 3.810 - 3812 kHz)On the last Thursday of the month, immediately following the West Virginia Fone Net on 3.810 - 3812 kHz (approximately 6:30 PM) the WV State A.R.E.S. / R.A.C.E.S. net conducts it net. This net is basically the same format as local net here with a couple of exceptions.
Net Control will first take check-ins, starting with Zone One and then progress up thru Zone Nine. Cabell County is in Zone 7, so just wait till he calls for stations in Zone 7. (he will state which counties are in each specific zone) Once he calls for zone seven check-ins, all you need to do is say " YOUR CALLSIGN, CABELL COUNTY ARES, NO APPOINTMENT, NO TRAFFIC" thats all. From then on you will most likely NOT be called upon again. Soon there after the net will close. Please support ARES and check-in when possible.
