During
Spring 1997. I was very often in contact with Abdullah 9K2GS who,
after my question about possibilites to work some DX Contest from Kuwait,
generously offered his QTH. From that moment I discovered hundreds of problems
how to take the chance and be active from Kuwait.
I could
not have succeed to solve them without help of my friends : 5B4ADA,
DH0PAA, DL1FDV, DL4KAX, DL5KBA, K2PF, PA3GIP, T92PSC, T93DGT, T93M/N1ZPE
and T93Y. Finally my dream became reality on November 23, 1997 when
I landed in Kuwait. I was not such a big problem to land in Kuwait, but
I was wondering how to meet person I'd never seen before. My cap with engraved
callsign and name helped Abdullah and his brother to recognize me and we
make our first eye-ball QSO.
My
host Abdullah 9K2GS is one of the best equipped HAM operators in Middle
East. Just a look at his antenna farm gives you impression that 9K2GS is
serious DX operator. 20m 2 X 4el. YAGI on 40m tower and tribander on smaller
10m tower makes possible QSO's with all corners of the World. And that
is not all. Abdullah plans in the near future to equip separate DX/Contest
location out of city. There is so much equipment inside the shack to be
mentioned here. Picture worth more than towsand words.

I
knew that WW CW requires all 48 hours on the band, and that was reason
we spent most of time before the contest for sightseeing and visiting local
operators. I had the possibility to visit and meet : Murtada 9K2MU (and
to see his indoor antenna for 160m), Hussain 9K2HR (in his triangle shack)
and Radio Club 9K2RA where I met 9K2HN, 9K2MR, 9K2RR and few other 9K2
operators.
Before
my visit to Kuwait I had no chance to see that many different towers all
over the country. 9K2RA is equiped with one 80m and one 40m tower. Wow
!!

Before
the contest I was active as 9K2/T97M and made some 1,800 QSO's. Same as
for all other T97M activities QSL cards go to K2PF. Do not miss chance
to check for your QSO's with me in my
Online
LOG.
Many
thanks to my host Abdullah for his hospitality and chance to work
WW CW as a DX station for the first time ever.
