Paxoi islans are found 7 miles of southernly Corfu. Capital of island the Gajios, that is also the bigger harbour of island. It took his name from the Apostle Gajio. Reaching in the harbour you meet the islet of Virgin Mary where above is found the lighthouse and the monastery.

The lighthouse of Virgin Mary (Paxoi isl.) or Mantona was manufactured in 1825 from British on stone tower with altitude 8 metres and the height of focal plane is 26 metres. The lighthouse included in the Greek lighthouses network in 1863 with the annexation of Ionian Islands.

Οι Παξοί βρίσκονται 7 μίλια νότια της Κέρκυρας. Πρωτεύουσα του νησιού ο Γαϊος, που είναι και το μεγαλύτερο λιμάνι του νησιού. Πήρε το όνομά του από τον Απόστολο Γαϊο. Φτάνοντας στο λιμάνι συναντάς το νησάκι της Παναγιάς όπου πάνω σ’αυτό βρίσκεται ο φάρος και το μοναστήρι.

O φάρος της Παναγίας Παξών η Μαντόνα κατασκευάστηκε το 1825 από τους Άγγλους πάνω σε πέτρινο πύργο με ύψος 8 μέτρα και εστιακό ύψος 26 μέτρα. Εντάχθηκε στο Ελληνικό φαρικό δίκτυο το 1863 με την προσάρτηση των Επτανήσων.
