J44LH DXPEDITION

The following Greek radio-amateurs:

will activate, for second time after 5 years, the Trikeri Lighthouse, with identification number ARLHS GRE-128. You can browse our old SY4LH DXpedition back to 2008 here.

The Trikeri Lighthouse activation will take place during 07 - 10 September 2013 with the special callsign J44LH.
The lighthouse is situated on Point Kavoulia, about a ten-minute hike from the Geroplina Settlement of Trikeri, in the Gulf of Pagasitikos.

You will be able to hear us on all bands, 160m-6m in such modes as CW, SSB, PSK, RTTY.

Equipment: YAESU FT-897, ICOM IC-706ΜΚΙΙG, Yaesu FT-101ZD.
Antennas: HF Extended Double Zeppelin 20+20m, Multiband Delta Loop (40-10M), 10m endfed Vertical, 3 PC with MixW & Wintest.

J48O DXPEDITION

LIGHTHOUSE KASTRI (OTHONOI ISL.)

The following Greek hams:

SV2FPU John, SV2CLJ Thomas, SV2AEL Savas, SV2YC Jim , SV2HXV John, IK0EFR Andrea, will activate the islet OTHONOI with lighthouse ham activation of the islet.
Lighthouse named KASTRI:WLOTA: L-0842, ARLHS: GRE-078

It will be the first time that this islet is going to be activated for ham purposes and so does the lighthouse "KASTRI".

Plaka Lighthouse, ARLHS GRE-107

Look for SV2FPU/8, SV2CLJ/8 and possibly others to be QRV from Limnos Island, IOTA EU-049,

from July 21 to 31 (2010).

This includes activating the Plaka Lighthouse, ARLHS GRE-107. This may include an entry in the upcoming IOTA contest. Activity will be on 40 to 6 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK. QSL via operators' instructions.

SX5C DXPEDITION IOTA: EU-001, GREEK IOTA: DKS 001
The following Greek hams: SV1GE John, SV1JG Cliff, SV1RC Spiros, SV1RP George,SV1EEX Nikiforos, SV1GRM Theodoros, SV1GYG John, SV1HER Sotirios & SV1JCZ Daniel will activate the rocky islet STROGILI (IOTA: EU-001, GIOTA: DKS-001, MIA: MGD-022) with lighthouse ham activation of the islet. .
Lighthouse named IPSILI: WLOTA: L-1653, ARLHS: GRE-053,

All the above hams are also members of the Radio Amateur Association of Greece (http://www.raag.org).

It will be the first time that this islet is going to be activated for ham purposes and so does the lighthouse "IPSILI".

The Stroggyli Kastellorizou also called Strongili or Ipsili, is a Greek islet which lies in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, about five (5) nautical miles south-east of the island of Kastelorizo. The islet is about 1.5 km long, and up to 700 m wide. It covers an area of about 0.9 km². It is rather flat and covered with macchia. Strongili is the easternmost Greek Territory. It is not inhabited, and has a lighthouse named Ispili, which has the characteristic of being the easternmost building in Greece.

We will be active (we hope) in all bands from 160m-2m in all modes.

NATIONAL LIGHTHOUSE-LIGHTSHIP WEEK (NLLW-2008)

# Purposes:
# To promote public awareness of ham radio and lighthouses; to contribute to the recognition that lighthouses, lightships, and their keepers deserve; to foster camaraderie within the ham fraternity; and to provide fellowship amongst the members of the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society

# Dates & Times:
# 0001 hrs UTC on August 2, 2008, through 2359 hrs UTC on August 9, 2008. NOTE: The period for the NLLW event has been extended to a full week. This includes two Saturday opportunities to operate; and the dates now include August 7th, widely regarded as "National Lighthouse Day," a day when many lights hold open house for the public. Hereafter, the first week in August, beginning on the first Saturday, will be known as "National Lighthouse-Lightship week."

The International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend was originated from the Scottish Northern Lighthouses award weekend. After several years of nourishing growth, it has had over 380 lighthouses participating from more than 50 countries, plus untold thousands of radio amateurs working the event from their home QTH.
