Other Interests
I started to learn to play the violin when I was 10 years old.
My Grandfather played and I think this passed onto me.
Before I left the UK for Australia I played in some good orchestras and played with internationally acclaimed soloists such as pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy and cellist Paul Tortelier.
In Perth, Australia before leaving for Egypt I was the leader of the Hills Symphony Orchestra for 11 years. The orchestra is based in Perth but also performed in country towns in WA.
I also had some professional engagements, the New York touring production of Porgy and Bess.Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Italian Opera and playing for visiting artistes such as Gene Pitney.
My main love is orchestral playing, I love being part of a large orchestra.
I also enjoy smaller groups and with my wife Pauline (flute) and son Tristan (piano) we used to perform as a trio in the Perth area and occasionally in country WA.
I also enjoy playing the Viola and have played the Telemann Viola Concerto with the Hills Orchestra.
