All,

Digital is always present during VAQP, but is in need of a boost. We will
endeavor to post spots of digital contacts on the www.qsoparty.com spotting
cluster to help everyone monitoring obtain more RTTY and PSK contacts this
year.

I'll be operating from the James River State Park in Buckingham County for this year's QSO Party. My rig will be either my IC-7000 or my IC-7100, my HF antenna will be a Carolina Windom 80, and I can do SSB or CW on HF. I may put up a ground plane for 2 m and 70 cm FM, as well.

Gordon et. al. The DX Cluster will be available again this year... http://www.qsoparty.com/ ...on both a traditional telnet service and a web page format. This is not connected to any other cluster servers so contains very light and VAQP specific traffic. John, kx4o

Gordon,

I figured I would write again to ask if you could post this to the pre-party tidbits.

I'm getting excited for another Virginia QSO party and will be running a mobile setup once again.  This time I'll be based out of my home QTH here in Pulaski and hopefully the car troubles that popped up last year in southside VA won't happen again.  I'm planning on activating some of southwestern VA along I-81 and north of I-81 for the first day and then take a tour along the Blue Ridge Parkway north of Floyd for the second day.  Here's some of the counties I'll be activating (or hope to be) from:

PUL, WYT, SMY, WAS, BRX, SCO, LEE, NRX, WIS, DIC, RUS, TAZ, BLA, RAX, FLO, FRA, ROA, ROX, BOT, BED, RBR, AMH, BVX, LEX

I see from the tidbits that someone else may be in my area so maybe we'll there will be two chances to get some of these counties!

Thanks again to all there in the club for organizing a great event.

73 and GL,
-Kevin, KJ4OAP

Hello Gordon - Mark Lindsay forwarded your advisory note about VAQP in 2014. I'm with the Fauquier ARA and plan to run mobile again this year in the southern and western (formerly rare) counties in VA this year - hoping to make lots of QSOs with any and all stations from my 500 W mobile station. Spotting and frequency donations welcome - the latter especially if I'm difficult to hear - almost exclusively on 40 m. Congratulations on a fine job of organizing the contest. Neil Spokes, AB4YK.
