PRESIDENTS THOUGHTS: Hi, The SPARC year is rapidly coming to a close. Only two major activities remain. First is the finalization of plans for the ARRL Field Day. Kevin, W4KLS, has volunteered a RTTY station. He is able to provide the transceiver, a TNO, and a computer with MMTTY. We need to consider how to integrate this into our tentage and antenna system. This will move us from a 2A to a 3A station. Overall, then we will have 5 stations operating; An HF SSB, HF CW, HF RTTY, and 2 "free" stations, a VHF station and the HF GOTA station operation SSB. John, N3QT, has also purchased 2 canopies for the Club. We will be interested in hearing about them. Operating an additional station also means that we need more operators. Kevin is willing to provide training on operation of the RTTY station and MMTTY software to all that are interested. So if a few more SPARC'ies volunteer, and we rearrange the operator schedule a little, then we should be all set. Finally, we have elections of officers for the next SPARC year. We have one nominee each for Treasurer, Secretary, and President. Bill,, KG4ATU, decided not to run for again for Vice-President (we all hope he will change his mind). If any other members want to an opportunity to contribute to the Club, please step forward. Looking forward to seeing you all again, 73, Gordon - NQ4K |
