PRESIDENTS THOUGHTS: Hi,The Xmas season is upon us and it is time for the last SPARC meeting of the year. I understand that the heat from hot SPARCs is enough to keep the snow away, at least for our meeting. hi, hi. Jim, AF4MO, has been investigating our role in emergency operations. We are a small club and do not want to interfere with the emergency activities of other amateur radio clubs. Conversely, we want to be able to help where we can. Jim has undertaken the task of defining an emergency operations role for us. As part of that effort, Jim has invited Tom, WB3AKD, to our December club meeting. Tom visited us several months ago and we are looking forward to hearing from him again. Several email messages on antenna zoning in Loudoun County have been circulating over the past month. I hope that Dick, W2YE, can give us an update on current activities. I am hoping that Dick will also update us on SPARCies involvement in recent contests. And remember that the ARRL 10 Meter contest in coming up on 13-14 December, the weekend before our next meeting. I recently found the "Worked All Virginia" award by the Rappahannock Valley Amateur Radio Club of Fredericksburg, Virginia. This looks like a very nice companion to our Virginia QSO Party. Additional information can be found at http://www.qsl.net/w4mhq/rvarc/rwava.html. Looking forward to seeing you all at the meeting. 73, Gordon - NQ4K |
