PRESIDENTS THOUGHTS: Hi, The time since the last meeting has been very eventful. The most fun event was the Virginia QSO Party. This year, as in previous years, we operated the K4NVA station from Dick's shack. I think all had a great time and compiled a great score. Dick reports that we accumlated 92,682 points and contacted hams in 42 Virginia counties and indepencent cities. Good work all. I did not get a chance to operate from my home station, I hope that some of you were able to and also enjoyed the event. At the last meeting, the club decided to support an emergency communications role for the club. Jim, AF4MO, has started to collect information from the club members who want to participate. If you have not responded to Jim's request, then please consider supporting Jim and the club in this new activity. Our meeting in April shall concentrate on three items. First, we need to score the logs submitted from the Virginia QSO Party and identify the plaque winners. Some of the work has been done already. We have posted the log results as we know them on our web site. We still have approximately 40 more logs to review. Second, we would like to hear from Jim and the progress he has been making in organizing an emergency communications role for the club. This is another opportunity for us to give a little and perhaps make a significatn contribution to our community. Finally, Field Day is coming up in June. We need to continue with our organizing the event. I am looking forward to seeing you all again. 73, Gordon - NQ4K PS. We are also continuing to collect dues for the year. Our treasurer, Ray, KD4RSL, will be more than happy to take your money. |
