License Class



The amateur radio technician license preparatory course was a one and a half day event on Saturday and Sunday, 25 - 26 March 2023. It began at 0800 on Saturday and was over at 1200 on Sunday. The course consisted of 10 classes with a few short practice test sessions. 

The class was taught at the Sheriff's Substation in Sterling, VA. 

Thirteen students participated in this course.  Twelve passed the tech exam offered after the class was over.

The instructors continued the tradition of providing excellent instruction and continued the tradition of having a high examination passing rate.

The class coordinator / organizer was Amit, WY2Z.  The instructors were Gordon, NQ4K; John, W3XWT; Eric, KF5LR; Evan, KM4SK; Suzin, N8SEM; and Larry, W8ANT. 

Everything went well.  Everything was well organized.


Amit, WY2Z, was the class coordinator.  He had to start preparing for the class about two months before its start. He is shown here trying to get the laptop to talk to the projector. 

First up was Gordon, NQ4K. He taught T0 - Safety, and T8 - Signals and Emissions.  

Continuing Saturday morning, John, W3XWT, taught T1 � Commission�s Rules; T2 - Operating Procedures and T7 � Practical Circuits.

After lunch, Eric, KF5LR, taught T2 - Operating Procedures, T5 - Electrical Principles, and T6 - Electronic and Electrical Components.

Early Sunday morning, Evan, KM4SK, taught T4 - Amateur Radio Practices.


  Larry, W8ANT, and Suzin, N8SEM, concluded Sunday morning with T9 - Antennas and Feed Lines and T3 - Radio Wave Propagation.  

Amit, WY4Z, the class coordinator, introduced the speakers and keep things on schedule.
