The biggest news for 2001 was that the Repeater took a real hit from lightning. It took out the repeater, antenna, power supply, fans, surge protector and all of the electrical wiring in the shed. We got the controller repaired, new antenna, power supply and a GE Master II Executive repeater. The (new) repeater was finally put on the air December 14, 2001. Total cost from the Club Treasury $851.93 plus a couple of members ask that their out of pocket expenses be credited to their dues for 2002. This made the total cost about $891.93. This does not include a lot of donated wiring, outlets, postage, telephone calls and other expenses associated with getting the repeater back on the air. Flinn-W5DLH- spent numerous hours on the old unit and got it working pretty good and it will make a good standby unit complete with controller. This almost depleted our bank account.
The members voted to raise the dues for the year 2002 (Only) to $20 for individuals and $25 for family memberships. This has helped considerably as we have a present balance of $265.38. Hopefully we can build this back up and be able to keep ahead of the expenses. If this is starting to sound like a request for support from all of our members, present and former, IT IS JUST THAT. If you feel that you can not afford the above amount a smaller donation would certainly be welcomed. We need all the help we can get. Hopefully we can get our Club Membership back up to the 40 or 50 we had a couple of years back and get involved in some activities that will appeal to the majority of the members.
At the December 2001 meeting we voted to discontinue the Post Office Box rental. However, if you mail your dues to that address I am sure we will get them forwarded. Future mail should be addressed to: STARS CLUB, 20 Bryant St., Ward, AR 72176.

While your financial support is certainly needed, your participation at the monthly meetings and the Sunday evening Nets are very important in keeping your club active. Listen to the Repeater and make any newcomers welcome.
