MINUTES OF GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING OF

SILVER SPRINGS RADIO CLUB, INC.

March 20, 2006

The meeting was called to order by President Bill Miller, N6WGM, at 7:32 p.m. Present at the meeting were Officers, President Bill Miller, N6WGM, Vice President Richard Moss, KF4ML, Treasurer, Bill Britt, KQ4UJ, and Secretary, Jeanette Frantz, KG4DJA. Board Members present were Tony Blalock, K4OCF, Russ Merkel, WB9GIU, and Walter Hill, W0WRH. There were 26 members and two visitors in attendance. A quorum was present.

The invocation was given by Gene Layerd, N4FQA.

The membership recited the pledge of allegiance.

The membership introduced themselves.

Upon motion made, seconded and adopted, the February General Membership Meeting Minutes and March 2006 Board Meeting Minutes were approved as published in The Oracle.

Upon motion, made, seconded and adopted, the Treasurer's report was approved as published in The Oracle.

Committee Reports:

ARISS: Larry Phelps, K4OZS, reported that the ARISS program at Romeo Elementary remains on track for contact between May and September, 2006. Larry also reported that he, Bill Miller and Dick Moss were present at Romeo Elementary on March 15, to "prepare" the students for the contact with the International Space Station. Larry also reported that the antenna bases would be in place by March 27, and the antennas actually installed by April 25, 2006.

MEMBERSHIP: Membership applications were approved for Charlie Bloomberg, KI4NPX, George Fornshell, KG4QWW and Nancy Fornshell, KG4WMH. Paul Lee, a new licensee from the Tech Class, submitted his application. His application will be presented for approval as soon as his call sign is issued.

MARS: Although a lot of work has been done at the MARS Station, telephone patch activity has been quiet. Bill Britt reported that he had been approached about setting up WinLink 2000 at the MARS Station. Bill Britt advised that our station would be happy to install the WinLink 2000 if the cost was underwritten from sources other than the club.

MERT: General Membership Meeting of MERT will take place on April 8, 2006, at 9:00 a.m.

BOY SCOUTS: Tony Blalock reported that "A Taste of Scouting" was scheduled for April 1, 2006, and urged the membership to come out for this event. Members participating will meet for breakfast, and setup will begin thereafter. The setup must be operational by 8:30 a.m.

VFW DONATION: Bill Britt announced that the VFW Auxiliary had donated $300.00 for the MARS Station.

NET CONTROL: The Net Control Schedule is working very well.

PROGRAM: Tony Blalock, K4OCF, brought his "boat anchor", a Collins R390A, and discussed the merits of tube radios.

There being no further business to come before the membership, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.

MEETING NOTICE
The General Membership Meeting of the Silver Springs Radio Club takes place on the third Monday of each month, except December. The April 2006 meeting will take place on Monday, April 17, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. at the Health Department Auditorium, 1801 Southeast 32nd Avenue, Ocala, Florida. All members are urged to attend.

April 3, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Bill Miller, N6WGM. Present at the meeting were Bill Miller, N6WGM, Vice President, Dick Moss, KF4ML, Secretary Jeanette Frantz, KG4DJA, Treasurer Bill Britt, KQ4UJ, and Board Members Tony Blalock, K4OCF, and Walter Hill, W0WRH.

The Treasurer's Report was approved.

The Secretary's Report was approved.

Bill Miller, N6WGM reported that the antenna bases had been installed at Romeo Elementary.

Tony Blalock, K4OCF, reported that an area had been secured near Green Clover Hall for Field Day 2006. There was some discussion about club participation in this event.

One membership application has been received from Paul A. Lee, a new ham (as of March testing session). Based upon issuance of a QRZ printout, the application was approved by the Board..

Bill Britt, KQ4UJ, reported that the March of Dimes Walk-America event would take place on April  29, 2006.

Bill Miller, N6WGM, Tony Blalock, K4OCF, and others attended and represented SSRC at "A Taste of Scouting" held Saturday, April 1, 2006. Although the turnout was not very good, the members in attendance had an enjoyable day.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

URGENT!

Your editor is desperately in need of articles for The Oracle, original articles. Every month, it comes down to the wire and I have nothing, other than minutes, treasurer's reports, meeting notices, net reminders and HamFests for the next couple of months. In the past couple of months, your editor has spent many hours researching FCC Enforcement actions, the ARRL Website and QRZ.com.

Most of you certainly possess more technical knowledge than this writer. This newsletter is only as good as YOU make it!
