SILVER SPRINGS RADIO CLUB

HAMFEST

December 10, 2005

The Silver Springs Radio Club's HamFest has been moved from Green Clover Hall to the Marion County Agriculture Center, thanks to Ernie O'Berry, K4OSM. The dates have not changed, the time has been extended to 3:30PM and there's considerably more room at the Agricultural Center and the location has been confirmed.

Now, let's get behind this effort and make this event a smashing success!

HURRICANE SEASON

IS HERE!

Tropical Storm Arlene should have convinced all of us that the hurricane season is here. We can only hope that the hurricanes will not strike Florida this year. Last year should have convinced all of us that a hurricane can strike even in Ocala, and it is imperative that everyone be prepared.

The amateur community answered a need during last year's storm season. Advance prepara-tion is the key for everyone. Again this year,

we must be prepared to answer the call if emergency communications are needed.

Amateur operators serve a very vital need and are often the only line of communication between the Office of Emergency Management and the Shelters.

Please, please, please, be prepared.

GREEN CLOVER HALL HAS

BEEN CONVERTED TO OFFICES - SILVER SPRINGS RADIO CLUB

MEETING RELOCATED!

As many of you already know, the Marion County Commission has converted Green Clover Hall to office space for the Building and Zoning Inspectors. Therefore, that space is no longer available for the monthly meetings of Silver Springs Radio Club.

Thanks to the efforts of Ernie O'Berry, K4OSM, a meeting place has been secured. That location is the Marion County Health Department Auditorium, located at 1801 Southeast 32nd Avenue, Ocala. A location map is located either below or adjacent to this notice. If you are not familiar with the location, please make an effort to try to find the meeting place BEFORE 7:30 p.m. on June 20, 2005.

NEEDED IMMEDIATELY!

Net Control Operators are needed to call the Silver Springs Radio Club Net each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m., Eastern Time.

I have, at some point in time, sustained a shoulder injury which may require surgery and an extended period of rehabilitation. If you can help, with the SSRC Net, please call me at 489-0571 after 6:00 p.m., or email at kg4dja@prodigy.net.

In addition, I will need heavy assistance in preparing The Oracle. The newsletter is the means by which our sick and shut-in members are kept up to date with club activities, budgets, bylaws and financial status.

Thank you.
