I sincerely apologize to each and every one of you that The Oracle has been late going out to you.
As you might guess, April is a very busy month, and I have simply not had the time to devote to the newsletter. This first year after Ken's death has been a real trial in getting everything accomplished. I'm still trying!
I can only promise you that I will TRY to do better and get it out to you on time in May.
Jeanette, KG4DJA
"Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts and we are never, ever the same."

2005 Florida QSO Party (FQP)
By Maurice Schietecatte, W4CEO
The FQP is sponsored by the Florida Contest Group.
Object: For amateurs outside of the state of Florida to make contact with as many Florida stations as possible. Florida stations, activating as many counties as possible, work everyone.
Contest Period: 4th full weekend of April. There are two operating periods. 1600Z April 23 - 0159Z April 24 and 1200Z - 2159Z April 24. 20 hours total. All stations may operate the full 20 hours.
For further information and the rules go to: http://www.floridaqsoparty.org
There are a number of operating categories including SWL.
The FQP is one of the most popular QSO parties. In 2003 over 650 logs were received while in 2002 and 2001 over 400 logs were received. However, what's surprising is there are not many logs from Marion County.
QSO parties can be fun, especially if you are the hunted. It's my understanding that the Friendship Radio Club will be doing a field day type operation during the FQP. So, I challenge all SSRC members to "GET ON THE AIR". Blow the dust off those HF rigs.
