Add surge protection on Hamaker? Battery power supply discussed - need float charger. Complaint received about interference on 144.99 MHz being caused by Dave Putman, W7KZU. He is interfering with the packet link to AWLBBS on 144.98. The ORRC handles frequency coordination in Oregon and uses a 10kc channel separation instead of 20kc. The ARRL bandplan is just a suggestion, local coordination determines actual frequency allocation. We can suggest moving or send a complaint to the FCC. There is no grandfathering or homesteading where frequencies are coordinated. 144.99 is not a voice simplex frequency and has been allocated to packet use by the ORRC. The ORRC bandplan assigns packet the frequency range 144.910 through 145.090 on 10kc splits. It is recommended that we write a letter from SOAPRA to Dave Putman, W7KZU stating the above. The radio on Soda is a crystal controlled radio on an ORRC assigned frequency. Motion by Steve, WB6YQP to write a letter to Dave Putman, W7KZU explaining the band plan and rules. If it continues, we will have to take measures to remedy the interference with emergency and normal communications. Send by registered letter. 2nd by Leonard, WB7TSX. Passed. Request by Dick, K7DDI to include the SOAPRA roster with the minutes. Motion by Sean, N7ZWU to pay the ORRC dues at $15.00. 2nd by Steve, WB6YQP. Passed. Will, N7KS asks about securing the radio cabinets on the mountaintops for quake resistance over the next year. ===== Meeting adjourned: 11:25 PM Sean, N7ZWU SOAPRA Secretary. ===== /ex
