Conventioneer Guide
Osaka is Japan's center of
commerce and industry. It prospered as a castle town after Toyotomi
Hideyoshi built his famous castle more than 420 years ago. Since that
time, it has continued to develop as a commercial capital of Japan. One
of the reasons Osaka had the best private transportation system in
Japan. Along with Kobe and Yokohama, Osaka is one of Japan's three main
port towns. The Yodo River, with its several branches, flows through the
heart of Osaka, resulting in such nicknames as the "Water Capital" and
the "Capital of Bridges. |
Gastronomic culture in Osaka
Since the Edo era (a few
hundred years ago), it has been said that, people in Tokyo lavish
themselves with footwear, people in Kyoto lavish themselves with
clothes, and people in Osaka lavish themselves with food. We call these,
Haki-daore of Tokyo, Ki-daore of Kyoto and Kui-daore of Osaka. The
Kui-daore of Osaka means the people of Osaka don't skimp on eating meal
for tomorrow's activity. Of course it is not only luxury food but also
commoner one. Typical examples are Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki as commoner
taste. Why don't you try them with us at SEANET Osaka 2006! |
