Air: The national airline is Malaysian Airlines (MH), which is southeast Asia's biggest airline and flies to over 110 cities across six continents. Further details can be obtained from the  Malaysia Airlines web site: http://www.malaysiaairlines.com.my/ Singapore Airlines, Royal Brunei and Thai International operate flights to certain Malaysian destinations.

For this Convention, Malaysian Airline is giving some undisclosed discount but one will need to contact MAS office directly (No agent) and the detail is listed in the explanation notes of the registration form as follows:

Air travel: SARS is pleased to announce that we have the co-operation of Malaysia Airlines, our flag carrier, for this event as the SEANET 2001 Official Carrier and the airline is offering a special discount on air travel for all SEANET delegates coming to Sabah for the convention. Note: To qualify for preferential airfares provided by the Official Airline, MAS, please contact your nearest Malaysia Airline’s Office in your area, quoting SEANET2001 Convention code G*QDAGMD. If there isn’t a MAS office in your area, please send me this Registration form duly filled and we will forward your contact to MAS who will contact you directly.
This preferential arrangement is not applicable for travel from domestic cities, Singapore and Brunei

 International airports: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) (Sepang) (web site: http://www.kiat.net/klia) is 50 km (29 miles) south from Kuala Lumpur and near Putra Jaya, Malaysia's future administrative capital. It opened in June 1998, currently handles 25 million passengers a year and is served by all major international airlines.

Kota Kinabalu (BKI) is 6.5km (4 miles) from the city. Situated on the western coast of Sabah state (the northern part of Borneo Island), this airport is the international gateway to East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak) and receives international flights from all over the world. Connections from the UK go via Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. Airport facilities include bank/bureau de change facilities, restaurant and bar, all open 0900-2200.

Departure tax: RM40 for international departures.

Sea: The major international ports in East Malaysia, Sabah are Kota Kinabalu, Lahad Datu, Sandakan,  and Tawau. Shipping lines with passenger services to Malaysia include Blue Funnel, P&O and Straits Shipping. Cargo/passenger lines are Austasia, Knutsen, Lykes, Neptune Orient, Orient Overseas and Straits Shipping. Star Cruises (Singapore) organise luxury cruises from Port Kelang. Other lines that offer cruises from this port include Coral Princess and Gemini.

Road: Road connections between the two eastern states, Sarawak and Sabah, and their neighbours on Borneo, Brunei and the Indonesian state of Kalimantan are fairly good.
