THE SISKIYOU COAL MINE

Discovered in 1875.
The early development work was done in 1877.
Serious development was started in 1891.
May 27, 1891, a pit 60 feet long by 25 feet wide and almost 60 feet deep was in existence.
November 18, 1891, the slope shaft is down 200 feet at the Siskiyou Coal Mine.
December 23, 1891, is now down over 300 feet.
June 6, 1902, the Siskiyou Coal Mine reopens.  A 320 foot slope tunnel was run some years ago.
October 31, 1902, the Coal Mine at Herr's Ranch is now 500 feet below surface.
March 3, 1903, the Coal Mine is now down over 800 feet.
May 24, 1910, Coal Mine may be started up again.
The Old Siskiyou Coal Mine closed down about the end of 1925.
