NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the 22nd Annual General Meeting of the Sabah Amateur Radio Society will be held as follow : -

Proposal to amend the rules of the SARS at the 22nd AGM (1st April 2000)
(A) Section 2: PLACE OF BUSINESS
To change the correspondence address to P. O. Box no. 20940, 88766 Luyang Damai, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia by amending Section 2
and to read as follow : -
Its place of business shall be at the Police Signal Training Centre, Kepayan, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah or at any other premises that the council may decide, subject to the approval of the Registrar of Societies. The address for correspondence shall be P O Box 20940, 88766 Luyang Damai, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
(B)
Section 4: MEMBERSHIP
To add to Section 4
" (d) Life Transmitting Members "
and
to read as follow : -
4. MEMBERSHIP
The Society shall consist of : -
(a) Honorary Members
(b) Transmitting Members
(c) Associate Members
(d) Life Transmitting Members
(C) Section 10: TRANSMITTING MEMBERS
To add to Section 10 the following phrase : -
"However, a transmitting member may apply for Life Transmitting Membership by completing a life transmitting membership form together with a single payment equivalent to 20 times the annual subscription in force."
And to read as follow : -
10. TRANSMITTING MEMBERS
Candidates to be eligible for election as transmitting members must hold a current Amateur Radio Transmitting licence issued by the Licensing Authorities of Malaysia.
"However, a transmitting member may apply for Life Transmitting Membership by completing a life transmitting membership form together with a single payment equivalent to 20 times the annual subscription in force."(D) Section 14: ENTRANCE FEE, SUBSCRIPT
To amend Section 14 as follow: -
14 Entrance Fee, Subscript: so as to increase the
entrance fee from $20.00 to RM50.00 and to amend all the "$" to
"RM".
And to read as follow : -
14 ENTRANCE FEE AND SUBSCRIPTION
The annual subscription will be RM15.00 for Transmitting Members, RM5.00 for Associate Members per annum payable in advance. There will be an entrance fee of RM50.00 and all subscriptions will become due on the first of January of each year. Such membership fee to be paid by the 31st of March each year and any member not having paid up his membership fee by this date shall be deemed to have ceased to be a member as from that date. New members joining between the first of January and the thirtieth of June will pay the full subscription and those joining between the first of July and thirty-first of December will pay one half of the subscription. The subscription will cover the cost of General Management of the society including the distribution of acknowledgement of Radio Contact cards to and from members.
(E) Section 19 : COUNCIL
To amend Section 19 by deleting the phrase : -
", provided that the President and Honorary treasurer shall not hold office for more than two consecutive years, and no member of the council other than the Honorary Secretary shall serve more than three consecutive years "
and to read as follow : -
19. All members of the council shall hold office until the next general meeting and shall be eligible for re-election. The council will have the power to co-opt member to temporarily fill vacancies as required by vacation of office for reasons of leave, sickness, courses, resignations or any other protested absence. Such tenure of office to terminate on return of the elected member, or by the following Annual General Meeting.
(F) Section 24: GENERAL MEETING
To amend Section 24 by deleting the phrase " Two thirds of the total number of voting members of the society " and insert " Twenty voting members of the society present "
so as to read as follow : -
24. At any General Meeting each transmitting member shall have one vote, which shall be given personally by ballot. Twenty voting members of the society present shall form a quorum. In the event of there being no quorum, the meeting shall continue, but they shall have no power to alter, amend or make additions to these rules or make decisions affecting the whole membership.
(G) Section 40: COUNCIL MEETING
To setup a SARS Building And Asset Fund under Regulation as provided for in Section 40. The Council shall have the power to implement such regulations as required from time to time, not being inconsistent with these Rules, as they may deem to be for the well being of the Society.
Regulation 1
Entrance Fee to be set-aside for the Building And Asset Fund for the acquisition of land, building or clubhouse.
Regulation 2
Every member to pay a sum of RM30.00 for the Repeater Fund.

As you all know JTM was disolved w.e.f. 1st April 1999 and the admin staff shall
leave on 31/5/1999 whlist technical staff on 30/6/99. As a gesture of goodwill,

I am please to announce that the final result of the CW Exam held on the 10th March includes Awang Damit B. Awang Yussof (9W6AO) and Donald Soh Sun Kheng (9W6SU). I would like to extend my congrats to them. They now join the 7 others previously announced passes to be upgraded to 9M6. Well done!!
Our AGM held on the 3rd April, 1999 at the Conference Room of the Pertubuhan Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia, Mile 2.5, Off Jalan Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu went on smoothly with a new set of Council elected to office. The two motions tabled were approved and there are:-
1) To delete the sentence ", and no member of the council other than the Honorary Secretary shall serve more than three consecutive years".
2) To consider the purchaseof one unit Telewave Duplexer and one unit Yaesu 2m Repeater at an estimated cost of RM8,000.00

I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION SPECIALLY PENGARAH JABATAN TELEKOM MALAYSIA KAWASAN SABAH TUAN MICHAEL CHIN AK LUBI FOR HIS ENCOURAGEMENT AND ENTHUSIASM. AGENDA 1.0 Call to order. 2.0 To consider motions which were notified to the Hon. Secretary not later than 14 days from the date of meeting. (a) The following motions are from the Council (1998/1999): – 2.1 Section 3: Objects To insert additional object (h) and to be read as follow: (h) To provide radio communication support and services using amateur radio, in the event of emergency and natural disaster. 2.2 Section 14: Entrance Fee, Subscript To amend the entrance fee and annual subscription fee as follow: (a) Entrance Fee: RM 100.00 (b) Transmitting Member: RM 30.00 per annum (c) Associate Member: RM 15.00 per annum by amending Section 14: Entrance Fee, Subscript to be read accordingly. (b) The following motions are from Mr. Godfrey Yin (9M6GY):- 2.3 Section 19: Council To delete the sentence ", and no member of the council other than the Honorary Secretary shall serve more than three consecutive years". 2.4 Section 24: General Meeting To delete the sentence "Two thirds of the total number of voting members of the society shall form a quorum" and the following sentence to be inserted "The quorum shall be at least eleven transmitting non-council members present and entitled to vote." 3.0 Adjournment.
