Weather Information & SKYWARN

SKYWARN

One of the major duties of Sachse RACES volunteers is participation in the National Weather Service SKYWARN program.  SKYWARN nets are activated whenever severe weather, usually with tornadic potential, is threatening Dallas County.

RACES members whom participate in SKYWARN nets are required to attend a SKYWARN Training Seminar sponsored by the National Weather Service at least once every two years.  Dallas County participants usually attend the Garland SKYWARN seminar which takes place annually on the last Saturday of February at the Garland Performing Arts Center.

For more information on the SKYWARN program, contact any of the Sachse RACES Radio Officers at [email protected].
