SAARA is an association of radio amateurs organized for the promotion
of Amateur Radio communication and experimentation.
We provide communications during disasters, emergencies and community
events.
We are located in Salem,
Ohio in Columbiana
County.
MEETINGS
The club meets at 6:30 PM. on the first Thursday of
every month
at the Salem Library's Quaker Room
821 EAST STATE ST., Salem, OH.
The public is welcome, and the meetings have handicap access.
NETS
The club meets on the Lisbon Repeater every Tuesday
at 9:00 PM on 146.805 (P.L.162.2 off during net)
to discuss items of interest to radio amateurs.
All hams are invited to check in and scanner listeners are welcome.
10 Meter 'RAG CHEW NET' 28.310 USB 9:30 PM local time following the
Northern Columbiana County ARES Net.
Ham Radio Classes
Ham Radio classes are offered every January to help
people obtain entry-level licenses.
The classes last about 5 weeks and amateur license exams are
administered at the conclusion.

Field Day 2019
June 22 and 23
Every year on the fourth weekend in June, the club
sets up an amateur radio station at Waterworth Park #8 in Salem.
The club contacts as many other Hams as possible within a 24 period.
This is part of a national exercise to test
emergency communications. The public is welcome to stop by and see a
working Ham Radio Station.
SAARA provides free radio communications for
community events such as parades, bike races, or walkathons.

during Severe Weather, and Natural or Man Made Disasters
