There are approximately 118 islands forming
part of the Seychelles group. The main part of the island group is situated between 4 and
5 degrees south of the equator and at a longitude of between 55 and 56 degrees east. The
islands lie right in the middle of the Indian Ocean, east of Africa, north of Madagascar,
almost south of the Middle-East and west of Singapore and north-west of Australia. |

| The
main Island is Mahé where the international airport is located. From Mahé you can take a
flight or a ferry to the other Islands. The Capital of the Seychelles is Victoria. Mahé
and Praslin (the second largest Island of the Seychelles) can be explored by public transport busses that go virtually everywhere, or by a hired
car. If you hire a car be aware that you will have to drive on the left (which does not
matter in the mountains as there is only space for one car anyway) and most cars for hire
have manual gearboxes only. |
