Biography
I was born on 30th December 1977 in Ljubljana. In 1988 my family moved from Litija, where we lived for 11 years, to small village Crni Potok. I visited Primary School in Smartno pri Litiji. At the same time I started to learn clarinet in Primary Musical School in Litija.
After the Primary school I enrolled in the Secondary School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (popular "Vegova") in Ljubljana. For the first time I met with electronics. I organized the Club of electronics at Primary School in Smartno. I started to work at the local radio station (Radio Geoss 89.7 FM) as a sound technician. Meanwhile I started playing drums and percussion in "Pihalni orkester Litija - Wind band Litija" and in various local heavy-rock-punk-metal bands (Interfuck, Roadrunner, Akumulator,... :-).
After the Secondary School I enrolled in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at University of Ljubljana. Meanwhile I started working as a video supervisor at RTV Slovenia, national TV broadcaster. Afterwards I changed the position and became a technologist in RTV Laboratory for Computer Systems. There I passed my praxis exam with Thesis "Practical implementation of VITC Timecode reader".
In 2Q 2000 I started working in Digital Development d.o.o. as a Hardware/Software Developer. I was engaged with Digital Signal Processors (Texas Instruments TMS320C5402 and IBM PowerPC 750CX), Programmable Logic Devices (Xilinx and Altera CPLD) and various telecommunication protocols (GSM, GPS, GPRS and MPLS). I left DD in April 2001.
In July 2001 I successfully finished B.Sc. Thesis at Faculty of Electrical Engineering ("Microcontroller based system for managing stepper motors"). Thesis is available for download here.
From April to November 2001 I was honorar member of "Jozef Stefan" Institute in Ljubljana, Laboratory for Open Systems and Networks (E5). I was engaged with various techniques: administration of UNIX systems (Linux, Solaris), programming in C/C++, Java, HTML and XML. I developed secure access for Hypergeo project (User Profile Management - UPM).
In November 2001 I joined the Accelerator Control Group (KGB) at "Jozef Stefan" Institute. I developed stepper motor controller card for LonWorks network. I used AVR microcontroller, Neuron microprocessor, Xilinx CPLD and peripherals.
In Januar 2002 I joined the Slovenian Army to serve military service. I spent 7 months in 12th Guardian Battalion. I was promoted to the rank of corporal. Check some interesting pictures here!
I am member of Association of Radio Amateurs of Slovenia (ZRS) and Radioamateur club Litija S59DLR. My callsign is S56WDF. Since 1999 I am member of Linux Users Group of Slovenia (LUGOS).
Interests
I'm interesting in electronic hardware design, especially microcontroller and microprocessor based circuits. I'm pretty familiar with AVR and 8051 microcontrollers and ADSP signal microprocessors. I made some antennas and other ham stuff.
Also, I like good music from various authors. My favourites are: Dream Theater, Jamiroquai, Limp Bizkit, Sade, Alanis Morissette, Living Colour,... and local bands: Sank Rock, Planet Groove, Panda, Lara Baruca, Parni valjak, Jinx. Listened on quality hi-fi components, of course.
I'm part-time member of KUD Vajkard, Amateur Theatre from Smartno. I take care of light systems and audio stuff on performances.
I'm not sport enthusiast, but I like volleyball and walking to mountains together with my girl. And last, but not least, Mateja, my wonderful girl, is part of me since 1994.
