October 2002 Minutes

Royal Gorge Amateur Radio Club

 

The monthly meeting of the Royal Gorge Amateur Radio Club was called to order by President Lindley on October 2, 2002 at 7:40 P.M. with 11 members present.  In the absence of  Secretary-Treasurer, Walt Wells, Carol sat in to record the minutes.  The minutes from the September meeting were unavailable as well as the Treasurer's report.

CORRESPONDENCE:  Pat received a letter from Phil Shafer, which mentioned that his wife had passed away, and encluded Phil's annual membership dues.

Chuck received a request from a person that wanted help photographing certain sites in the area, and would provide a disposable camera for the task.

Chuck also got a request for a 20 meter C-W 2001 Field Day QSL card.

Steve passed on the information that he received from the Emergency Co-ordinator, Jeff Ryan, stating that all A-E-C's , must be ARRL members.  The $45.00 training session fee would be reimbursed to the first 200 seats filled for A-E-C's and E-C's.

Steve provided a "Thank You" letter to Dorothy Day at the Royal Gorge regarding the Special Event Station operation the club had in August.  

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Repeater Committee Chairman, Dennis, reported that Don located the jell cell batteries.  The 6 meter repeater had coax damage.  The Cripple Creek repeater site had been broken into, but nothing seemed to be missing.  There was damage to the door.  W0BTO Hink in Pueblo got into the 6 meter repeater.  The mining company site creates a huge liability.

RACES Co-ordinator, Don, reported no news, and was waiting on the election outcome regarding the new sheriff.

OLD BUSINESS:  Members wanted to know if the repeater sheets were available yet.  No one knew if Walt had gotten them ordered.

NEW BUSINESS:  On Saturday following the monthly club meeting, a CCARC meeting was to be held in Woodland Park.  President Lindley appointed Dennis to represent the club.  Frank made a motion to allot $25.00 for expenses to enable Dennis to attend the meeting.  The motion carried.

President Lindley appointed Carol, Carlos, and Jack to the Nominating Committee to select prospective officer candidates for the next year.

Dennis donated 22 GE UHF mobile radios that he received from the Philmont Scout Ranch at Cimmaron, NM.

Hard line co-axial cable was donated to the club by Mike Alexander in Florence.  A motion to use the cable on the 145.46 repeater made by Steve carried.

Don mentioned the Jeffco Swapfest was to be held October 19, 2002.

The Age of Space Sciences was to held at the Meadow Lake Airport east of Colorado Springs with a balloon launch and Scout Jamboree.

An announcement regarding the time and place of our meeting was submitted to the Daily Record by Derrick.

Jack made a motion to adjourn the meeting which was seconded by Carlos.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
