Short description

System telemetry module STM is a device for sending of telemetry data, a beacon text message, and position reports, when attached to an UHF transmitter. The error controlling transmission is accomplished at user selectable time intervals. It is capable of sending these messages via digipeater with as many as four hops.

The unit accepts Global Positioning System (GPS) data in NMEA 0183 and TAIP formats for position reporting and can telemeter eight A/D inputs (8 bits resolution) as well as sixteen bits of digital input.

Through the use of configuration software "STMС.EXE" the user is able to customize call signs and other parameters. An on-board EEPROM stores configuration information indefinitely (for 200 years) and "STMС.EXE" can be run as often as needed (up to 10M times) to change settings. 

An on-board voltage regulator accepts power from unregulated 8 -15 VDC source or it may be run from a regulated 5 VDC source. The regulated voltage is also available for other applications, as less then 30 mA is required for the STM module in normal mode and less then 0.5 mA in sleep mode but the regulator can supply 300 mA at +5 VDC.

The STM module measures 82 x 46 mm and is fabricated on two-sided printed circuit board using surface mount technology. The microcontroller MICROCHIP PIC16C77A is in a DIP or PLCC socket for easy firmware upgrades.
