QCWA Chapter 120 (QCWW) Annual Meeting 2006
Our 2006 Annual Meeting was held during the QCWA Convention at the Ports O’Call Hotel in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on Friday, September 29th. Nine members and one guest attended. Members were: Blanche W4GXZ, Carolyn WBØ'OUM, Frances VE3HKG, Janice K4IJK, Ann VE3HAI, Larry WA9JMO, Bob NØ'UF, George VE3BMO and Gary KØ'BC. The guest was Barc VE3HAH.
President Carolyn WBØ'OUM called the meeting to order at 11:05 a.m. She asked for a moment of silence to remember and honor our silent keys.
Minutes from our 2005 annual meeting were discussed. Secretary Ann VE3HAI, seconded by Blanche W4GXZ, put a motion for approval forward. Approved.
Treasurer Larry WA9JMO reported that we have a bank balance of US $1530.47. Gary KØBC, seconded by Bob NØUF moved the adoption of this report. Approved.
Under old Business, we discussed the QCWW crests. Crests were given to all members present who did not already have one. We will promote the crests in our newsletter "sYLver Sparks" and also on the web site.
New business included the election of officers as follows: President Janice Lentz K4IJK, VP Caroline Harrison WBØOUM, Treasurer/Editor Larry McCalvy WA9JMO, Secretary Ann Nutter VE3HAI and Web Master /Certificate Custodian Bob Roske NØUF. There being no other volunteers for these positions, Frances VE3HKG moved and Gary KØBC seconded the motion to accept these officers. Approval was unanimous.
Larry WA9JMO moved and France VE3HKG seconded a motion that Kay Eyman WAØWOF and Jan Scheuerman WA2YL, be asked to accept reappointment as Directors of our Chapter.
Ann VE3HAI presented a proposal to convert Chapter 120 into a virtual chapter. Full details will be published in the next sYLver Sparks. Larry WA9JMO moved and Gary seconded the motion to convert to a virtual chapter. The motion passed. New bylaws will be drafted and published in our newsletter following approval of the executive.
A QCWW Scholarship donation was discussed, but in view of the operating deficit that QCWA will have in 2007, it was move by George VE3BMO and seconded by Gary KØBC that we donate $100 in memory of our silent keys, to help offset the deficit. The motion passed.
Bob NØUF discussed QCWW having its own reflector and how information should be submitted as a word document to him for posting on the QCWA web site. Bob also explained the term email alias. He stressed that those using an email alias can’t submit comments regarding any postings.
Bob also recommended that we liberalize the rules for obtaining a QCWW certificate. The executive agreed to work on it and report to the members via our newsletter.
Our next annual meeting will be held during the 2007 QCWA Convention in Denver. The 2008 QCWA Convention will be held in Virginia Beach.
President Carolyn WBØOUM presented QCWA Meritorious Awards to Larry WA9JMO for 2005 and to Bob NØUF for 2006.
