What is QRP?

With a small power of up to 5 watts, and often using by Morse code, QRP-radio amateurs can make connections – often over quite a great distance. Most of them build their receiving and transmitting equipments themselves. It is often a simple piece of equipment made from used parts. It allows the builders to experiment in their home-laboratories and to develop new schematics and check out their operation. Some start using energy from the sun, wind and water. Recently, digital operations have been expanding, where an even smaller output (in tens of milliwatts) is required for connection. The construction and operation of QRP equipment is fun and exciting. It shows your ecological attitude to life on the Earth because you save energy, materials and the environment. It is a great form of self-realization.
