      As will be evident from the loggings of Nov 17 on the next page, my
      rather downbeat comments at the end of the December column were a bit
      premature. They were written just a matter of hours before that open-
      ing was upon us. The US F2 MUF was at or over 35 MHz here for some-
      thing like 2 hours. Overall, the best display since the Oct 1974 per-
      iod (when the solar fluxes reached into the 140 range).
