WA5IYX Navaid RealAudio Files

The following were made using a 1950's vintage Narco Omnigator receiver
and a 6-element Archer 15-1636A FM antenna at 20 feet AGL.

AHN 109.6 (VOR) Athens, GA (950 miles) - 1505 CST
IGRI 111.9 (ILS) Grand Island, NE (795 miles) - 1839 CST
YKN 111.4 (VOR) Yankton, SD (930 miles) - 1843 CST
ISLN 108.9 (ILS) Salina, KS (647 miles) - 1900 CST

Due to the rapid QSB it would be nice if they all had idents as fast and frequent as ISLN above!
(The simultaneous voice weather tape loop on AHN didn't help IDing it either.)
The VOR's may run up to 100 watts with their omni/sweeping-antenna pattern while the ILS's use highly-directional fixed antennas fed with as little as 15-w.

MYS 108.2 (VOR) Mystic, KY (917 miles) - 1128 CST
CCT 109.8 (VOR) Central City, KY (851 miles) - 1131 CST
OWB 108.6 (VOR) Owensboro, KY (870 miles) - 1133 CST
HNB 109.2 (VOR) Huntingburg, IN (901 miles) - 1134 CST
IPAH 108.5 (ILS) Paducah, KY (772 miles) - 1136 CST
MTO 109.4 (VOR) Mattoon, IL (905 miles) - 1146 CST
DNV 111.0 (VOR) Danville, IL (973 miles) - 1148 CST
CMI 110.0 (VOR) Champaign, IL (934 miles) - 1150 CST
MWA 110.4 (VOR) Marion, IL (794 miles) - 1152 CST
IIKK 109.7 (ILS) Kankakee, IL (1004 miles) - 1155 CST

The above have examples (MTO, DNV, and MWA) of VOR's that use voice and Morse tone for identification. Very often the only part of the voice ID that comes thru clearly will be "VOR" - leaving a lot to the imagination!
