I bought this porto in 1999 for mobile use, but soon it becomes clear that I needed an external antenna on the roof of my car. So I bought an mobile antenna and used this porto during one year in my car. After one year I decided to buy a real mobile transceiver the TM-G707. Now I use my TH-D7E for APRS, packet and in my garden.

Kenwood goes beyond the limits of what today's Amateurs expect from a radio. The TH-D7AG is equipped with a built-in AX.25 TNC for simple packet operation or to be used with a handheld GPS (NMEA-0813 compatible) as a full function APRS(TM) Automatic Packet/Position Reporting System.
