Since I used this version for testing, the number of buttons is quite large. All the synthesizer features can be controlled. For normal use this is a bit overdone and one can get by with a stripped version.
I made some software to control Comtech 13cm Audio Video Tx and Rx modules. The software communicates with the Comtech modules via a parallel to I2C converter based on a circuit designed by Philips. The demodulator chip in the receiver has an AGC output which I hooked up to an unused analog input on the synthesizer. It can only "measure" 6 levels but to make a panorama receiver which just show whether there is some activity in the band it is sufficient.
