Last summer holidays
I have been to Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
As a radio amateur one of
the things that get attention is of course any kind of suspected amateur
activities J
I have not met any amateurs
in all of the three countries, but I found two interesting things.
Unfortunately, in both cases I was not able to contact the radio amateurs L
But what I have done is
make some pictures, and I hope with these pictures I can still get in contact
with them J
The first sign of amateur
activity I have seen in Korea at Suwon city, while I was walking along the
“Hwaseong Fortress” . While I was walking behind the walls of the fortress I
seen at the the houses below a small plate with HL2ABF on it J The plate was very small, but with my camera I
was able to zoom it in and make a picture of it.
At that time I had not much
time for a visit because in short time I had to go back to my friend in Seoul,
and nobody seemed to be home, and I decided to go on. The other day I searched
on the internet to find any address or email (so he/she could maybe help me to
be qrv from HL) but everything failed. I have no callbook, and www.qrz.com
can’t find the address ether. When you have any information about HL2ABF
please tell me, then I will send him/her the picture as surprise J
My second suspected amateur
activity I noticed in Taiwan, in Taipei city. This amateur must be active via
satellite or EME, what was very interesting for me to see in Taipei city !!
The antennas I spotted
already during my first “look around”, and it was not far away from my hotel,
so I tried several times to trace the amateur owner J
To find this amateur it was
impossible because the problem was
finding people who understand English and something about HAM radio, and
willing to search the owner of the antennas for me.
When looking at the picture
you can see the antennas are pointed into the sky, and they are mounted on an
elevation rotor (looked like KENPRO/YAESU), what means satellite or EME.
The antennas are not two
different bands, what more looks like EME activity.
Taipei is a large city and
it can be many amateurs, and therefore I put a “x” on the city-road map I had
of Taipei J
Maybe some amateurs in
Taipei city can find out who is this amateur, so I can send him/her my picture as surprise J
The location is at the end
of the “GungGuan night market”. Not far
at the other end of the “Gunguan night market” there is the ShungShan train
station.
Please let me know if you
have any information…
