Membership information is outlined in Article One of the PCARA Constitution. Basically, membership is open to any U.S. or DOD employee or their dependents. Membership is open to Panamaneans as well as long as certain requirements are met. A Panamean is required to be a paid up member of another radio club here in Panama, or be a resident on the Atlantic side with a valid HP2 call. Upon application for membership, proof must be shown that the Panamanean is in good, paid up standing with the other club.
To become a FULL member of the club, you must have a Panama Radio License. If you have applied for one, then a copy of the stamped receipt obtained from Sra. Rosi is all that is necessary.
The rules regarding the payment of dues are covered in Article Three of the Constitution. The current dues of the PCARA are as follows:
| ASSOCIATE MEMBER | $12.00 | No patch priveleges |
|---|---|---|
| FULL MEMBER | $20.00 | All priveleges except mailbox/autodial |
| MAILBOX/AUTODIAL OPTION | $7.00 | (add this to full member dues) |
Dues are required at the time of membership application or renewal. Checks can be made payable to "Panama Canal Amateur Radio Association." The club treasurer is usually set up at each meeting and can take your dues at that time.
Once you complete the application form and pay your dues, you will not automatically become a member. Your application will be considered in accordance with the Constitution at the next board meeting. (Board meetings usually occur a few days before each scheduled club meeting.) The purpose of this is for the board to screen each application to ensure that the applicant meets the requirements as set forth in the Constitution.
If no problems are found, the applicant will be introduced at the next meeting as a new member. If any problems are uncovered, the applicant will be called by a member of the board and notified of the problem. It is up to the applicant to resolve any problems with the application and/or required paperwork.
If at any time you have questions pertaining to this problem that cannot be resolved by this website, please feel free to drop an email or phone call to one of the club officers. Their email addresses and phone numbers can be found here or at the contact link on the opening page.
