PARC Meetings
Next PARC Meeting: Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010 at 7:30 pm
Peterborough Amateur Radio Club meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at Adam Scott Collegiate Vocational Institute in Room 131 at 7:30 pm. Adam Scott is located at 175 Langton St,Peterborough. Access to meeting room can be made by using the southern most doors of the south parking lot off of Hilliard St., which is between the school and the school's Athletic field. All amateurs including anyone interested in becoming an Amateur radio operator are welcomed to attend PARC meetings.
Final preparations to setup a Amateur Radio Information Table at Lansdowne Place on October 30th - 31st was held during the October 6th meeting.

The new Sinclair 2M 2 dipole antenna was successfully installed June 29th, 2009. Early signal reports showed a significant improvement in performance over the "backup" antenna installed in January. The backup antenna will remain in place in case of failure of the new antenna and for the 220 Mhz link. 2009 Field Day

The 2009 Field Day was held at the home of VE3EMA this year. The new location saved many hours of preparation and setup time which was used towards a more relaxing low keyed event. The one phone station ran till 2:00pm Sunday and made a total of 208 contacts. More info and pictures still to come. Thanks to all that participated.
PARC/Adam Scott Radio Club Basic Level Course
Next course starts Feb 22nd, 2010
The Peterborough Amateur Radio Club along with the Adam Scott Amateur Radio Club is implementing another Basic Level Amatuer Radio course. The Basic License Course will run at ASCVI on Monday evenings starting Feburary 22nd 2010. This course is open to anyone who wishes to prepare for the Amateur Radio License examination. The cost for the course is $85.00 which includes Study Guide Book and PARC membership. Classes run from 7:00 pm till 9:00 pm on Monday evenings in Room 131 and will run 14 weeks in total. Exam Review will be held June 7th with the Examination written June 14th. Note that examination can be scheduled to be written at anytime through any Industry Canada Accredited Examiner. Please email VE3EMA if you are interested in registering for a course. Coax Publications' "Canadian Amateur Radio Basic Qualification Study Guide" is being used in this course.
PL Breakfast - The Square Plate Restaurant
Next PL Breakfast is November 24th, 2009 at 9:30 am
The PL breakfast is held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at The Square Plate Restaurant on Armour Road, just north of Parkhill Rd. This is the same location as the old " Stop-a While" restaurant, familiar to many. This location is also served by the city bus (Nichols Park route). There is plenty of parking at the back and you can use the back door.
Fox Hunts
Next Fox Hunt: Sunday, ?????, 2009 at 1:30 pm
PARC Fox Hunts are usually held once a month starting on top of Armour Hill in Peterborough. Tune up on VE3PBO (146.625-) and then switch to Simplex (146.580) to find the FOX. The minimal equipment required is a two meter Handi. All are welcome.
The Quinte Amateur Radio Club Tour of the County fox hunt was held May 2nd, 2009.
PARC Christmas Dinner at the Carousel

A huge thankyou goes out to Hilda VE3HIG and Mary VE3JTM, for organizing a wonderful Christmas dinner at the Carousel.
As president of PARC, I wish to convey my sincere thanks to all members who have supported PARC, its activities and the numerous Community events throughout 2008. It is the hard work of many PARC members who continue to contribute in the spirit of everything that PARC is.
