My HAM radio Station

I hold a amateur license since 1987. I started out with a so called D-licence. This is a novice license with limited possibilities. My callsign was PD0PHN. Later i upgraded to a C-license (PE1OFD) and then to the A-license i have now. My callsign is PA3GPX. A callsign used to be assigned to you by the government, but since some time Dutch amateurs are allowed to choose their own combination (within certain limits ofcourse!). When my box of qsl cards is empty, i think i will change my callsign too. There are too many da's in it !

I almost exlusively operate on HF. My favorite mode is CW. I am always keen on making contacts with new countries. Sofar i have worked 151 countries. I still have a lot of countries to go !

I also like to take part in contests. For example the annual CQ WorldWide, and the CQ WorldWide WPX contest. A well known Dutch Contest is the annual PACCcontest that is held in februari. I always take part in the PACC with the local HAM radio club B.R.A.C. from Den Bosch. The callsign we then use is PI4SHB. (CW only!)

Here are some pictures of my shack and "antenna-farm" :

Antennas Here you see my antennas. The vertical is a Cushcraft R-5. This one is for 10,12,15,17,and 20 Meters. The little yagi is for my packet link with PI1EHV on 70 cm. The short stick is a dual band 2m/70cm vertical for the local smalltalk. The stripe you can see going diagonally trough the photo is my 2x20m dipole for 80 meters. I use to have a 30m dipole as well, but since the tree that supported it on one end is no longer there, it had to go.

This is the shack. In the middle is my faithfull old Yeasu FT-102 line consisting of the ft-102 plus external vfo, antenna tuner and speaker. Above it on the right my Icom ic-206 for 2 mtrs, with home-made power supply. The laptop is an old 486that i use Shack 1
for packet-radio and logging. On the table are my Bencher paddle and my beautiful chromed Vibroplex bug (i'm very proud on this one ! ). Left of it is a home made K9CW contest-memory keyer.
