BIOGRAPHY PA-1575
From 1968 to1980 we were QRV
as SWL Station
(Short Wave Listen Station).
I had an R-107 receiver. Whit this army receiver was I listen on the
HF bands. CW-AM-USB and LSB
stations. It was a tubes receiver.
The QTH was Venlo in
the south east past of the Netherlands. I was there about
2 years QRV as SWL station and later on (1970 to 1980) from out Blaricum about 20 km south east
of the Netherlands.
The antenna what I used in first time was a home made long wire from about 30 meter long and about
8 meters from the ground.
Also I was make whit my father (silent key) a 1 elm. Beam for the
20 meter band. Later on there was coming a rotor and we can rotated this beam. It was so about
8 meter up from the ground.
Most of the day and night I was listen whit this receiver on the
HF bands.
Many, many qsl card’s I was write out, and I had also a log from the stations what had have a
QSL card from my.
I can remember my first station what I was login. It was a Cyprus station. That was QRV on the
80 meter band in the DX band so around the 3.8 MHz band in LSB mode.
I think it was ZC4ZC, but I
do no if I had the call ok now, when we live in 2004 HI.
This Cyprus station was send me directly return to my address in Venlo.
I was very, very happy that he me sending his QSL card.
I was also QRV as SWL on the 160 meter band, and early in the morning I can Hearn W1BB in CW.
That was very great that I can Hearn that station on my R-107. He was also sending me his
QSL card directly. I can
remember me it was a black card on the foreside.
We was going every weekend to PA0AP (silent key) family from my.
I must learn better CW. He was making a sound from me whit 1 tube.
A up and down keyer and see I can learned CW, whit a headphone on my head. Also PA0AP had
learned me a lot whit this beautiful hobby.
