which I now live and finally all systems are installed, tested and working
just fine.I am active on both 70cm and 23cm,my dish is 7m with 1KW at the
feed on 70cm and 800w at the feed on 23cm(good ssb echos!!).I was listening
on 14.345 today but band conditions were poor and I guess that you were not
beaming down to South America.I am now needing some skeds to show everyone
that PY5ZBU is back again!!! My grid has changed to GG54DK,my email address
has not but the telephone number has been changed and is 554130326245.

Dear Joe and net members:

Now it is the 8th typhoon landing on JA this year, recording the worst
historical rainfalls, floods and landslides, specially in Western JA.
Here in the central part, fortunately, it is not very severe by now.  But
you must know it really is the beginning of the usual typhoon season....

About microwave EME:

As in the reports, not a few stns are active on 3cm band EME these recent
years.
But I wonder how many stns can listen on our EME frequency, 10.450GHz.

Everyone who can listen or transmit on our frequency, please write me.

The international common frequency 10.368GHz is available for JA
amateurs also, but Telecom office do not give the license over 2 watts
output on this frequency.  They will give 10.450GHz for EME, instead.

Anyhow, we have to try it on 10.450 first, and then ask the Telecom for
10.368 later.  At least I know, there is no other way for the possible JA
EME activity on 3 cm bands at present.

This week I will approve for the license for the EME on 10.450GHz and
5.760GHz.   There must be a high hurdle for 6 cm, too.

Actually, JA EMErs have to get the permission everytime they try it
on each frequency.  It's very troublesome to draw the designing, submit
the calculations on the path loss and expectable signal strength, and
electro-
magnetic field strength around the station, and the written certificates
from the
neighbors that they are not suffering from TVI, etc., etc.....

It must be one apparent reason why so little JA amateurs are active in EME.
There should be not a few JAs actually interested in it, but they cannot
make it realized, even if good antennas, and high power amps are affordable.

Can you imagine how bulky the approval documents are for a few QSLs?

I hope I can get the license within a few months (or in a few years,
possibly) !!

About the activity for the on the air net:

The band conditions on 20m for the net from JA seems to be very poor.
The band around 14-15Z (locally 23-24 JST) is almost quiet.... Will try the
longpath ( beam to SW from JA, via the direction of VK6 and the
antarctica, the south of South Africa), that could possibly be usable
during autumn to winter season.

The low band net seems to be of  no hope for the JA guys. It's in the
mid-day!

Sorry but only a few JA EMErs are active on HF bands. In another word, there
is no active JA EMErs presently, except a few, who can come on HF bands.
I believe my HF station is the best performer among JA EMErs.  6-el full
size
over 20 m high (to 32 m max) and 1KW+ output.  But cannnot overcome the
band condx....

Will try to check in when I am in the remote shack.  Let's keep it
cheering!!

Hi Joe,

Could not hear the net again this morning.  I think we had some aurora.  I
finally am back, QRV on 70cm.  Last pass I worked SM2CEW (559-559) and OH2DG
(559-559).  My system is not "end-state".  I just slapped it together but it
seems to be working very well.

I will be QRV today for Europe's moonrise.  I also plan to work the ARRL
contest next weekend on 70cm.

DL Time (26400 bps): < 1 minute

Joe,

DL0EF is back again for the up-coming EME contests. Please see attached
short report:

"DL0EF, Astropeiler Stockert well prepared for up-coming EME Contests on 10
GHz, initial 24 GHz tests"

On the weekend of the 25th and 26th of September the amateur radio team of
the Föderverein Astropeiler Stockert, DL0EF, met to re-activate after a 1
year break the 10m dish for the up-coming EME contests on 10 GHz.
The transverter system, which has been refurbished and up-graded was
re-installed and the 200 W TWT was re-activated.

Moon noise was observed with 4.5 dB with a cloudy and rainy sky and sun
noise was around 18-19 dB. Own echoes were great and readable even in FM. A
random QSO with DL0SB, the group in Bochum using a 20m dish with 200W
confirmed that everything works fine.

We are looking forward to contact on the ARRL EME weekends, starting with
the 9th of October as from around 8h00 until 14h20 and on Sunday the 10th as
from 7h00 UTC until around 14h00.

Further more, initial receive tests on 24 GHz have been done on the 10m dish
using a small circular horn inserted into the 10 GHz circular waveguide.
Results were encouraging with sun noise of 4 dB on a simple receiver with
around 5 dB noise figure. The antenna performs well and further activities
are now planned.

Details can be found on our webpage: www.astropeiler.de

Hi Joe,
I added directors to my dual dipole feed forming single cross yagi. Tonite
worked easy K2UYH O/O in sked. I could detect my echoes. I will be in the
contest also on 432. I should be capable to work 8-yagi stations and good
4-yagi stations. I will operate also for JA and VK window. My window is
limited because this antenna is located between dish and 144 MHz yagis.

Hi Joe,
Sorry I have not been on net or the moon much this year, very busyfixing things
and working weekends. I am planning to be on during the ARRL International EME
contest nextweekend. I do not have my 20' dish up and running yet, so I will
only be on 432using the eight FO-33 and 1.5kW. I hope to work lot of 70cm
stations during the contest if all goes well. Richard Wilkins, KR4V will be
helping me out on October 9. If any 70cm station needs Virginia, NOW's your
chance! I am planning to be on both nights if everything works. Every time this
fall I have wanted to raise the array and get on themoon, the weather man calls
for another hurricane. I have had everything tied down and unhooked since late
July. I am planning to work on checking out everything this weekend so things
will be ready for the contest.
73's and good luck to all in the contest!
