Subj:    For Net Note Publication
Date:   6/30/04 2:40:02 PM Eastern Daylight Time
From:   [email protected] (Joel Harrison)
To:     [email protected]

Joe,

Please publish this in the net notes so as to dispel all of the incorrect
information that is floating around these days concerning log submission for
the ARRL International EME Competition.

There has been considerable confusion and false information publicized and
reported in various media about contest log submissions for the ARRL
International EME Competition. For the record, there is not, nor has there
ever been, a requirement that ARRL EME contest logs be submitted ONLY via
the internet. If you look at the ARRL International EME Competition
announcements in QST you will find that electronic logs or PAPER LOGS have
always accepted. In fact, in the contest announcement in QST for 2001, 2002,
and 2003 you'll find a statement in BOLD print that clearly states that
Cabrillo format is NOT required for the ARRL International EME Competition,
and that logs may be submitted electronically or on PAPER LOGS.

One great thing that has been set up now is an online log entry form on the
ARRLWeb that is specifically for stations that make just a few QSO's and
want to send in a log. You can enter any size log this way, but if you have
10 or less contacts you can complete your log submission in less than 5
minutes. However, if you still want to send in a PAPER LOG that will be, and
always has been, acceptable.

The rumors, wrong opinions, and false information have caused this to get
way out of hand. If you will take the time to actually read the contest
announcements that have appeared in QST every year, you will find that the
above statement is TRUE, and always has been.
